New Year's Resolutions 2016 On New Year's Eve

It's New Year's Eve, meaning 2016 is approaching at a rapid rate. Because the big change of year is coming up tonight, we decided it would be a good idea to make our New Year's resolutions and write them down today. And what better way than to start with the dogs?

Earl's New Year's Resolutions 2016

1. To gain my final Agility win and win out into Grade 6 at Kennel Club level in Agility and come within the top three overall places in the ABL Senior League in the Agility Nuts Winter League 2015-2016.

2. To continue to increase my speed, motivation and confidence in the competitive Agility ring.

3. To attempt to control my cheese and general food addiction, hopefully resulting in less whining when the humans are preparing any edibles.

Ethel's New Year's Resolutions 2016

1. To win at least three Grade 3 Jumping classes at Kennel Club Agility competitions and win out into Grade 4.

2. To gain more accuracy when attempting to complete more difficult Agility courses.

3. To attempt and hopefully succeed at the Young Kennel Club Agility Dog Of The Year Crufts Qualifier in November with natural speed and confidence.

My New Year's Resolutions 2016

(Of course, Earl and Ethel's Agility winning out resolutions are as much mine as their's!)

1. To improve my individual handling for Earl and Ethel as individual dogs when running each one separately in Agility.

2. To go for longer, more exciting walks with the dogs in different places to usual.

3. To ensure I get more sleep and have earlier nights than during 2015. Hopefully, this will result in feeling more awake and motivated to do things in my daily life. Although I don't need any more motivation for hobbies and activities such as Agility, having more sleep will hopefully make me even more aware and focussed in the ring, making me an even better handler and quick thinker.

And another one for me...

4. Start a successful YouTube channel and upload high quality videos of the dogs doing impressive activities such as performing tricks, running Agility and more, including uploading our first, introductory video.

We're pumped and ready to see what 2016 brings us!

We hope 2016 brings happiness, grand health, excitement, success and good times to everyone out there, human, canine and other animal alike!

Doggy Present Opening Recap

We all enjoyed opening our presents on Christmas morning, including a pair of incredibly exuberant dogs! The sound of wrapping paper alone sends them into an excited blur of adrenaline-pumped wagging behinds! Even on the birthdays of humans their bums never seize their wagging when wrapping paper is fondled!

Ethel ripping her presents open and pulling out the contents!

The blurred faces of an incredibly exuberant doggy duo!

Unfortunately, the majority of the photographs came out like the one above; blurry and unprofessional in appearance because of the sheer excitement and exuberance of my dynamic duo! It does, however, do a brilliant job of portraying the sheer blissfulness and adrenaline of the pair on Christmas morning!

We hope you all had a brilliant Christmas, humans and dogs alike!

P.S. If anyone is wondering where the Monday Mischief Blog Hop has gone and why it isn't displayed here, it is, unfortunately, no more, and the current main host closed it for good. We enjoyed it while it was alive!

Post-Christmas Temptation

After the giant Christmas dinner has been devoured, delicious leftovers lay rotting in a bin bag.

Earl

How can anyone in their right mind leave any such deliciousness sitting in front of a greedy dog? Some things are simply unfair on so many levels.

SS - Why Boxing Day Can Be A Relief

After the Christmas madness of the previous couple of months, Boxing Day can prove a real relief for  the majority of people! Now we can all enjoy and appreciate our Christmas presents and unwind!

Ethel

Both Earl and Ethel were delighted with what they found under our Christmas tree yesterday morning. Receiving a brand new mobile phone myself (in which I have now drowned in doggy snaps!) Santa Paws was definitely good to us! Was he good to you?

Santa Paws Is Coming!

Happy Christmas Eve! Which means... Whoa! Tomorrow is Christmas Day, meaning Santa Paws in coming TONIGHT!

We hope you all have an amazing Christmas Eve and Christmas Day guys!

Meanwhile, this duo is super excited! While older dogs who have experienced more Christmases seem to sleep more soundly on Christmas Eve, the little eyes of young ones' never close!

Although many people believe this is the case, older dogs never grow old enough not to feel the excitement of Christmas! How is there a soul on the planet who doesn't love Christmas?

SANTA PAWS IS COMING! OH MY DOG!

We hope you all wake up and seek many glorious surprises tomorrow morning!

Why Are Our Dogs' Paws So Important?

The saying 'no hoof, no horse' can be said in the same way regarding dogs; no paw, no dog. Our dogs' paws play an incredibly important role in the daily lives of our dogs, and without them, our dogs wouldn't be, well... dogs! Dogs were originally bred as incredibly functional animals, many bred with specific working purposes. However, without their paws, dogs wouldn't be such amazing animals with some incredible abilities.

What would our dogs do without fully functional paws?

An Amazing Final Agility Weekend Of 2015

Dog Vegas and Agility Nuts couldn't have been more successful for us during the previous weekend! An amazing end to the Agility competitions of 2015 for us, for sure! After months of competitions wondering whether Earl had another win in him, after months of battling course times and tough competition in the higher graded classes, he went and won Grade 5 Jumping at Dog Vegas, meaning we only have one more Agility win until Grade 6! I am SO proud of him, and myself for completing such a challenging course! Ethel also competed in her first proper competitions with the availability of placings! And these weren't the only successes... read on for more!

So, as well as Earl winning Grade 5 Jumping, he came 2nd in Grade 5 Agility! He also went clear in his other combined classed; and all of his runs were well inside the set course times! I couldn't have been happier with his performance! He was really raring! Ethel also did some classes, gaining only 5 faults in the weaves in Grade 3 Jumping, but doing the remaining course faultlessly. By times, she would have won by five seconds if she'd done the weaves first time! She is amazing! She also did another course, following all of my instructions, but I messed up, forgetting some of the course!

At Agility Nuts, Earl did well again, coming 4th, 6th, and going clear in his other classes. Ethel also did amazingly well, coming 4th in a class of around 35 other dogs in ABL Jumping, being beaten by three medium dogs, at least one a collie! She basically won small! I'm so proud of her, and she loves Agility!

2015 has been an interesting Agility year for me and the dogs. Earl has regained his ultimate happiness when running in the competitive ring, and Ethel has began her Agility career, placing highly in a huge class. We have all progressed and learnt more about the world of Agility, and we simply cannot wait for 2016!

Scruffy Ethel Has Returned

After being hand stripped in the summer, Ethel's been smooth for a while now. However, I do see a little bit of scruffiness creeping back in; and as much as she does look incredibly smart when she is smooth, I do love her adorable, scruffy appearance!
