Super Vid Sunday With B&W! - #DogWalkingWeek

Hey all! Its Sunday - and instead of having it the average, lazy way, we're having it the fun, frolicking, exciting, and busy way we love to lead every day here! So, lets get on down with some action of videos and black and white like Sunday - its the Sunday-ly special at EW - Super Vid Sunday With B&W!

Our Sundays aren't the typical Sundays at all. No laziness, unless its raining of course - they're energetic, busy, and fulfilling, just like any other day of our's. And this week is National Dog Walking Week, therefore, of course, we are celebrating with practical advice, a funky video and plenty of fun times had by the dogs - photos in Black and White for Sunday!!

So our blog hop today is Walk Your Dog Week, and Black and White Sunday! Remember, Walk Your Dog Week is rather exclusive when it comes to blog hops, so don't miss out, as its nearing the end very rapidly!!

So here is our walking video.

As you can easily see in the video, both my dogs walk tremendously at my heel - they know and respect happily who is boss of the walk, leads the way, and choosing where to go.

They love their walks, and training your dogs well really does help with the walking, and you'll all have a better and more fun, fulfilling walking experience.

Sometimes, especially if you have a dog with currently poor recall, a street walk on lead is just as nice and enjoyable as an off lead tear around. Yes, all dogs needs to run freely for their mental and physical wellbeing, but street walks can benefit your dog in many ways also, such as:

1. The walking action along streets can help keep your dog's claws nice and trim.

2. There is plenty to see around your neighbourhood.

3. Walking closely with the owner is a great way to bond - especially if you do some training along the way, such as 'watch me' or the occasional switch of direction with a command and treat.

4. For residents, it can be nice to see or even greet a happy dog walking by. As an example, around my area live quite a few old folk. Many smile and even often come and have a stroke of Earl and Ethel whilst we are walking past. So socially, street walks can benefit also.

5. Round the streets, there are often many lampposts to sniff, peemail to read. There's no reason to explain why that's a good thing. Dogs will know…

6. Lead and self control. You may find that dogs who are never walked on lead properly pull, strain, get silly, and make the owners cross, puffed, and red in the face. As our video has hopefully shown you all, having a dog/dogs who is/are polite on the lead and respect your rights to control them and choose the route, plus walk in front/never let dog go in front of is a joy to walk.

7. Walking at a good rate will help keep your dogs muscles healthy and body fit, without overstrain on the joints.

PAWfect!

My main thing here today is probably everything that happens on a walk not only exercises your dog with the actual walking, but stimulates him/her. And other people, sometimes if they get out at the right time, can enjoy the dogs and benefit from them walking past with a smile.

Do remember, this week is dog walking week, but there is never NOT a week (unless instructed my your vet for medical purposes) to walk your dog(s)! Walk walk walk and have plenty of fun!

Thanks so much to our hosts of Walk Your Dog Week Celebration Blog Hop, Cascadian Nomads and My GBGV Life - woohoo!

  2. What a great post and you all do walk wonderfully on the leash. We can, but we rarely walk in a heal, we get to go here and there exploring, but we do that at a high rate of speed. Mom likes us to walk off road and explore as it is entertaining for us and she enjoys watching us, BUT if asked, we return to her side, stop, wait, etc. You two are adorable, and thank you for joining #DogWalkingWeek
