Ensure your dog has time to recharge their batteries and enjoy some down time. As much as exercise is important for our dogs, this cannot occur successfully, safely or fairly without sleep. Keep your dog's welfare at heart before your want to push them, especially in competition when the prospect of winning can quickly overpower you.
We're joining our hosts SlimDoggy, To Dog With Love and My GBGV Life in the FitDog Friday Blog Hop. We send many thanks their way, and you can join in below.
Great advice!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Recharging is important for all dogs, especially dogs with busy lives.
DeleteNap time is a favorite activity around here - especially as we get older ;)
ReplyDeleteFollowing a long walk, there's nothing nicer for our dogs than snuggling up for a warm nap.
DeleteWe are all real good at battery charging around here!
ReplyDeleteHaha! It's important for dogs!
DeleteOh yes, a quick sleeps and recharge and then ,,,,let the funs begin!!!!

Our dogs (and us!) can only ever enjoy something fun with plenty of sleep.
DeleteKilo the Pug loves a good nap. He certainly works in bursts of energy and speed, then needs down time. Suits me.
ReplyDeleteBless him! My dogs adore running and playing, but sleep is also on their menu in life!
DeleteIt is important to recharge. We can't just go and go
ReplyDeleteLove & peas,
Lily & Edward
We agree. Dogs need sleep as well.
DeleteWe've seen the other side of this. We live on a sailboat. On travel days, our dog Honey will snooze beside us in the cockpit. By the time we arrive at a dock or anchorage, we're exhausted but she's raring to go.
ReplyDeleteI think it's time to give her a little job on the boat. Perhaps we could teach her to raise the sails by pulling with her teeth. :)
It sounds like she loves life onboard! I'm sure she'd enjoy having a job!
DeleteEverything in balance. Rest is important.
ReplyDeleteI agree! Exercise is needed, but without sleep, this cannot happen.
DeleteMr. N is super fond of naps. He is not a morning dog at all!
ReplyDeleteTeehee! Bless him! Mornings are a downer.
DeleteI really enjoy my hikes with Chester and Gretel but boy do we really appreciate our down-time too. Snuggling on the couch is our favorite :)
ReplyDeleteSofa snuggles are much loved here as well!
DeleteI was so tired today and couldn't take Cocoa for her usual and it was needed I think for both of us to have a little rest!!
ReplyDeleteI feel like this sometimes, too. Our dogs do, too!
DeleteDowntime isn't really a thing in this house, haha! Half the dogs are hyper, as is the human. ;) We walk, run, tug and train each day, but everyone sleeps soundly at night.
ReplyDeleteA good routine of fun and exercise in the day means good quality sleep when the time comes.
DeleteGreat advice, I need to recharge a lot. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you. We all do! Have a lovely one.
DeleteI will work on that battery-thingy today... so I'm the energizer bunny tomorrow :o)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your naps!
DeleteDefinitely not a problem here! Haha!
ReplyDeleteLOL brown dawgs would hunt until they dropped, literally. We have to remind them to take a break.
