*Beware - snails*

Scientists are worried that the fast-moving snails are spreading a parasite that is deadly for dogs. Over the past few years the wet summers enjoyed across the UK have proved the ideal breeding grounds for snails.

Snails are a growing threat to pets - LUNGWORM is a growing threat to pets so watch out! If you see any signs of lungworm in your own dog rush him to the vets.

How do dogs get lungworm?

Dogs get lungworm by eating larvae found in infected snails (or slugs or frogs!) If a snail is on a toy of your dogs, your dog will not think about what could happen to him. You need to be the person who does.

Symptoms of lungworm in dogs are as follows:

~ Coughing
~ Breathing problems
~ Reluctance to exercise
~ If a dog gets a minor injury, like a small cut, it might bleed for longer
~ Abnormal blood clotting

If you see any of these signs in your dog(s), act fast!

Did you know about Lungworm aware week in March? Did you take part?

Be lungworm aware! Speak to your vet.
