Pet Dental Health Awareness

… Month! That is what February is! And what an important topic it is too! We will not hesitate to join in and share our tips for pearly whites.

Earl has had many positive comments on his lovely teeth. How do we do it? First up on the list we have non other than nature's toothbrush… 'A Carrot a day keeps the tartar away'! Second up on the list we have the tasty Nylabone… and third on the list we have the Natural Antler Chew range!

Yes? Of course you do, don't you doggies? Try these…

1. Delicious whole carrot vegetables to chew, one daily. These healthy snacks act as toothbrushes for your dog in a less stressful way than actual toothbrushes for some dogs! They don't put weight on your dog, so are perfect. However too many could also lead to a problem! Some days have a break from carrots, and give your dog number 2 or 3 instead.

2. A tasty Nylabone, which cleans your dogs teeth, as well as keeping their natural urge to chew at bay. Chewing releases the 'feel good' hormone too - a good all rounder! They come in all shapes, sizes, for all different chewing temperaments in dogs etc. They also do a puppy range - there will be one to suit your dog!

3. An all natural, nommy Antler Chew keeps teeth clean by wearing away tartar. Some of these chews are whole or come sliced to bring out the flavour more for our four-legged besties!! They are naturally shed so no need to worry about the deer. However, at least 1 brand I know of stains carpets, and that is Stagler, but others, like Antler Dog Chews and Stagbars do not!

So there you go - our take on doggy dental hygiene and health. Now my bragging rights - nobody can argue that Earl has wonderful teeth, seeing the photos. And that is what we do to keep them that way.

Keep your dog's mouth healthy! Focus on it especially this month.

Although its not exactly wordless, we are going to hop along with the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop hosted by BlogPaws themselves! Why shouldn't we seize an opportunity to celebrate today?

  1. I gave the dogs carrots as treats but now I'll give one to them more often. What a great idea! As for antlers, one of my dogs broke two teeth chewing antlers. Everyone loved them, but we can't have them anymore. :-(

    1. Aw, thats a shame about the Antlers! Well, all dogs are different and one thing doesn't apply or work for ALL dogs :-)

  2. Hmmm, I sometimes get carrots as treats but never thought they would help keep my teeth pearly white! Good to know!

  3. Great tips! We love nyla bones and antlers but I never thought of using carrots before. That's something my senior dog would love! The nyla bones and antlers are too hard for her.

  4. I'm so afraid of antlers, our Wyatt broke a tooth on one. He likes carrots though and we're happier with them too. Great post!

  7. Cool ... our dogs love carrots but I did not know they were so good for the pearly whites. We tried antlers once but had staining issues and haven't tried them again since. I will try the brands you recommend! Thanks for these great tips because our pups are not a big fan of tooth brushes so we try to do other things to keep theirs smiles white and healthy.

  13. Thank you for this post. Oral care is extremely important for your dog’s health. As brushing the pet’s teeth can turn out to be unpleasant for both of you, it is a good idea to consider the modern alternatives.
