A New Look For Christmas

Earl and Ethel are sporting a new look for Christmas!

Earl and Ethel

While Ethel's insane fuzz was done by our regular groomer, I managed to fully groom Earl myself in two hours. I fully hand-stripped him, gave him a full start and finish groom-through, trimmed his beard and paw hair and cut his nails. They'll be looking and feeling amazing for Christmas!

Dog Vegas Agility Show - 17/12/2016

Earl and Ethel were absolutely brilliant at the Dog Vegas Agility Show.

Ethel and Earl

Earl won Small Graded 5-7 (5) Agility (his final win necessary), meaning that he is now Grade 6! He then came 3rd in the Small Combined 1-5 Agility Dog Vegas Finals 2017 Qualifier and qualified for the event for the second year in a row!

Ethel won Small Graded 5-7 (6) Jumping, came 3rd in Small Combined 6-7 Agility and 6th in Small Combined 6-7 Jumping!

The Bishop Burton Arena was amazing; it was the first time that I have ever been warm while doing Agility in the Winter...

Dog Vegas Agility Show - 12/11/16

Earl and Ethel were awesome at the Dog Vegas Agility Show on the 12th of November 2016!

Earl

Earl ran his little paws off and came 2nd in Small Graded 5-7 (5) Agility and 3rd in Small Combined 4-5 Agility! I am thrilled with how happy my little man was in a competitive environment.

Ethel was awesome, coming 5th in Small Combined 6-7 Jumping and performing like a professional! Ethel successfully performed two-on-two-off on the two Dog-Walks that were in her trained Agility runs.

I can see my two and I improving with every competition!

Me and Ethel

Ethel

Earl ran well and went Clear in his run, putting in a wonderful effort and having a brilliant time. He then came 3rd in Starters Obedience and performed like a professional! I am absolutely thrilled with his performance in a competitive situation!

Earl and Ethel then won the Best Family class in the Fun Dog Show that was happening! Unsurprisingly, the judge immediately fell in love with my little pair of puppies.

Agility Nuts Agility Show - 16/10/16

Ethel and Earl were awesome at Agility Nuts, kicking off the Winter season with a BOOM!

Ethel came 2nd in ABL Starters Jumping and 4th in ABL Starters Up N Under (missing out on winning by one second...)! I ran her in her two Agility classes for training purposes and was pleased with her performances.

Earl - yes, Earl - came 2nd in ABL Novice Plus Jumping, 6th in ABL Novice Plus Power & Speed and 9th in ABL Novice Plus Agility! This little man of mine was happy, confident and really enjoying himself.

We had another successful competition!

Dog Vegas Agility Show - 08/10/16

Ethel was awesome again at the Dog Vegas Agility Show. It may not have been the most successful competition the we have attended, and although we picked up some minor faults in some of our runs, Ethel did me proud and worked her little paws off.

Ethel

She came 3rd in Combined 5-7 Agility and 2nd in Grade 6 Jumping! Her other runs were brilliant, even if they did include a couple of small errors that are all fixable in time. This was the first day of properly trying out her running contacts on the A-Frame, and she did at least get one. She was extremely close on the other ones, and I know that running contacts take time and patience to fully master. And, considering that we have both shot up the Grades extremely quickly as a competitive pair, Ethel is doing me proud on the more difficult courses that we are faced with. I can see that the future is bright for us; I just have to learn to be more patient and remember that the journey is just as important as the final destination.

Ethel's Agility Warrant Bronze

Ethel's Agility Warrant Bronze has arrived! I am so proud of her for achieving this at the Agility Nuts Kennel Club Show on the 3rd of September 2016. Since we very first started out in Agility as a pair, I have never felt as though this little dog could possibly be any more enthusiastic and willing. Impressively, the halfway point to earning her Silver Agility Warrant is extremely near. This little puppy is amazing!

Dog Vegas - 24 & 25/09/16

The dynamic duo did very well at Dog Vegas! At her very first show competing at Grade 6, Ethel smashed some extremely tough courses and proved herself to be completely worthy of the very top Grades!

At her very first show competing at Grade 6, Ethel won two of her Grade 6 Jumping classes, taking her halfway to Grade 7! She clocked up the fastest times in many of her classes after that, but with some extremely unfortunate 5 faults. Her (and my) mistakes were minor, including jumping off her A-Frame contact and knocking a couple of poles. Others were simply down to a lack of experience on both of our parts, and we will both improve even more so with time. To have almost reached the highest possible Grade in Agility at just over 2 years of age is mightily impressive; and that is an understatement!

Earl had an impressive 2nd and 6th in two of his Grade 5 Agility classes, which, for him, is wonderful! His happiness and confidence is brilliant, and I am over the moon that he is starting to love Agility again! Soon enough, he will win that final Agility class and triumphantly win into Grade 6!

I love them for always working their paws off for me!

Guess The Dog Breed Competition

Hello everyone! Recently, I was emailed by a very confused dog owner. Their shop dog, Pete, is a beloved rescue dog from a shelter in Kansas City, Missouri. However, no matter how many images they trawl through on the internet, they cannot seem to figure out what Pete's true breed is.

Can you help them out and guess Pete's breed while they wait for his breed test results? Enter the competition and have a go HERE! The closest guesser will win a $100 American Express cash card! Good luck and happy guessing!

North Derbyshire Dog Agility Club Championship And Premier Show 2016

Earl and Ethel were brilliant at the North Derbyshire Dog Agility Club Championship and Premier Show 2016, and, although my awful memory and sometimes wrong commands posed some slight difficulties for us in a couple of courses, we had a wonderful time and came home with a huge haul!

Earl won Grade 5 Agility (with an extremely unfortunate two seconds of time faults, meaning that it cannot count towards progression) and went Clear in the Combined 1-5 Agility Dog Vegas Qualifier! His confidence and happiness at competitions has been regained; he even started barking on the start line! In the not-so-distant past, he would refuse to even look at me when I tried to excite him before a run. His break from Agility is paying off, and he has reentered the Agility scene with a BOOM! It is clear to see that my little man officially enjoys Agility again, and he still has more to give in the competitive scene!

Ethel came 2nd in Grade 5 Jumping, 2nd in Grade 5 Agility, 3rd in Combined 5-7 Jumping, 3rd in Grade 5 Jumping, 4th with a team in the TAG Team Dash and 5th in the Combined 1-5 Agility Dog Vegas Qualifier, making her a Reserve again! Ethel runs her paws off in every run, amazing me in everything.

We also saw and talked to Daisy and Poppy from Paws Weaving; it was lovely to see them run!

We had another wonderful and successful weekend!

Agility Nuts Kennel Club - 03/09/16

Ethel and Earl had a brilliant - but extremely rainy - day at the Agility Nuts Kennel Club show! Earl especially gave me a wonderful surprise with his success, after not training or competing for months!

Ethel earned enough points for her Agility Warrant Bronze and now has her first Agility title: AW(B)!  She came 3rd in Combined 1-7 Agility, 5th in Combined 4-7 Jumping and 8th in Combined 1-7 Jumping, with some incredibly tough competition!

Earl absolutely blew me away and came 2nd in Grade 5 Agility, after not training or competing for months! It was an absolute joy to see him run and look so happy in the ring; my soft, slightly stage-shy little dog definitely came out of his sensitive shell! I have definitely missed running in my 'comfy slippers'! I have hope that he will, soon enough, get his final Agility win needed for him to win out into Grade 6!

We had another wonderful time at another successful Agility competition! I have two extremely clever little Terriers!

Dog Vegas - 27 & 29/08/16

This little puppy has absolutely blown me away over two days of competing at Dog Vegas!

Ethel

Ethel has gone Grade 6! We won Grade 5 Agility, two Grade 5 Jumping classes and Combined 5-7 Jumping! We also came 2nd in Combined 5-7 Agility and came 6th in the Combined 1-5 Agility Dog Vegas Finals 2017 Qualifier with five faults due to an unfortunate missed contact, making us a Reserve! She had the second fastest time, and would have fully qualified! I am incredibly excited to start competing at this exciting new Grade! Pride is an understatement; I am absolutely stoked!
