Earl's poor case...

On Thursday (25th April 13) and at team agility classes, Earl was acting rather strange bless him, and refusing to do the agility courses. So, after he finally did do a round, everyone agreed that something was definately up. So we took him straight home and he was quite quiet. It was such a worry-ful night of worry-ful sleep and non sleep, and such a terrible worrying day with stomach lunges just in case Earl wasn't well back home, working hard.

At the end of the day, luckily, he'd been himself, phew!! We took him to the vets anyway to get him checked over. The vet couldn't find anything serious, but just in case he'd overdone intense excersise, he was given some agility days off, and for 5 days, some anti-inflamatory steriods tablets.

He is acting fine today, MOST LUCKILY, but still seems a little confuzed of why he can't play play play! I took him for a gentle little walk (at first he was unenthusiastic but got into the swing of things after about 1 min and a half luckily) and we have gently trained, and played fun, but very gentle stimulation games.

Anything for Earl's health.

New Toys!

Well, today I came back from a hard working day and was suprised but delighted to see two very bright tennis balls that my nannie had bought for me and Earl! They both smell of mint and are supposed to freshen the dog's breath! Earl loves them to bits and we've already had a big big play with them in the garden already today!! It was lovely and be both adored it like we always do!

Here they are (and a few of Earl!):

Note: the other tennis ball is in my hand in this picture, see Earl's face waiting!

Wating again, with his new balls behind him :))

Above you will see Earl's orange ball, then the last one is one of his new balls!

Its lovely to play with your dog, and watch them making a new toy(s) officially their own - Earl did this by rolling on his haha!!

Hope you enjoyed!

Measuring Earl.

So today I took Earl back to the Showground to get him measured for competitions (small, medium and large) and we had to wait AGES because our first journey up, we realized we ha forgotton his KC papers which we needed for measurment! I was really annoyed! Anyway, we went back, grabbed them, and whizzed as fast as the speed limit would let us, back. Anyway, a load of kind people went in search of some measurers for me, Earl and a few other owners and dogs. Finally, some were rounded up and Earl was measured! To my great great great delight, he measures just small! Which means he will be the top of the small-ees group and is likely to suceed big time in this group! We are hoping that's the case, ahahaha!! Anyways, the next dog show that comes along, we can enter ourselves! I can't wait! We also got Earl a new coat which is reddy orange and reflective so he will be warm, water-proofed, and safe at night and all times!

Here's a picture of Earl in his new coat:

Cute, cosy, reflective, safe, waterproofed, bright, snazzy!!

I've been searching for the perfect coat for Earl for ages haha! Now we've got it! Yaaay!

We were also dissapointed though - by the time Earl was measured and his Agility Record Book had been filled in with his measurment, most of my agility class was over. Me and Earl went to do some in the last 10 mins and got two nice runs in - not completely clear rounds, but Earl was fast and we worked well!

Earl's new toy I bought him wasn't a huge hit off, Earl loves it at home but doesn't seem interested in it at agility! We will carry on using it however, until Earl gets to really love it and he gets used to no cheese... !!!

Just in case you don't know which toy I'm on about, here's a piccy:

There we go you see, lol its as big as he is!

We both hope you enjoyed reading and looking about our exhausting but lovely exciting day!!

Our Dog Show Day Adventures!!

So, today, me and Earl went to the Showground to watch a friend and her dog compete in agility and it was great! THEY did great!! We are going back tomorrow to get Earl measured for the competitions, small, medium or large. We think he may just get into the medium... but we'll have to wait for tomorrow to find that out hey!

Anyway, today I bought Earl a soft blue and pink rope toy with a rugby shaped ball with holes in it on the end toy at a doggie stall, and he ABSALOUTELY ADORES IT - YAY!! I bought him a seperate squeaky little ball to put inside that won't drop out, so when I squeeze the rugby shape, it squeaks!! He loves it to pieces and bits - it is now his special agility reward toy to encourage him in his agility!

We also had a look at some doggie coats for him to get an idea on the size he needs, and are looking online for one of the design we would like.

Below are some pictures of the day: Enjoy!

Ooh, that's gonna be me soooo soon, Earl comments!

Some of the advanced course, as well as the below.

New toy alert!

Hope you enjoyed reading and looking!

Tomorrow I will tell you what Earl measures for agility competing and what size catagory he is in for competing!

Stimulating dinner!

About a week ago, I ordered a 'GREEN dog feeder' for Earl. This is designed to stimulate the dog and slow fast eaters, like Earl, right down, so hopefully avoiding bloat and terrible things like that that come from over fast eating. Anyway, we missed the parcel, so we had to go and fetch it from the post office a day after! And it has worked a treat! Instead of taking 1 min to eat, it took Earl 17 mins to eat his breakfast and dinner! It makes such an unbelievable difference to mealtimes, and a beneficial one too!

Here are some pictures I captured of Earl eating from his new GREEN feeder.

Perfect for a doggie like Earl!

All about our agility....

The other night (Thursday 18th April 2013) me and Earl went to 'team' agility classes and it was such fun! It was also tremendously funny because we all had to make up our own agility routine with a certain amount of jumps and everyone was getting a little puzzled about it! I am soooooo proud of my little Earl because of how well he did - we both did, as a team! Unfortunately, I didn't take my camera because its all concerntration at training, but we did have a blast! We both love agility! While we're on the subject of agility, tomorrow, Saturday, me and Earl are going to watch a friend and her Collie compete at the Showground! We are really super excited to see it and feel the atmostphere, never mind the have a go mini agility competitions that me and Earl are so entering!!!!! We are at competing level now, but are still waiting for one to come along so we can get booked up for it. We can't simply wait!! Exciting stuff! Do you and your dog love agility??!

After tomorrow's show, we will be reporting back here to our blog and telling it's wonderful story! We hope you look forward to hearing about it, and don't miss out on the story!!

We will be reporting back with our next exciting story of a doggy day out, tomorrow!!

Holidays End - but picture of happiness!

The holidays have ended now which is upsetting. Both me and Earl love the holidays filled with endless play, walks, training, those extra extra cuddles, and all those wonderful doggie things. We are both looking forward to the next holidays! Who doesn't look forward to them hey?!

This blog will still be updated when something interesting happens - because they do happen even when its not the holidays!!

Anyway, here's a picture of Earl eating a carrot - its sure to cheer up everyone with the holiday ending blues!

A picture to cheer up those with the holiday ending blues - and everyone for that matter!

We love Agility!

Today, Earl and I went to our twice-per-weekly agility lesson! It was such fun! Earl was a little bit slower on the course today though because it was hot weather. He sped up when I showed him a hand full of cheese however!! We are now even at competing stage for agility - we are going to a show next Saturday to watch a friend and her dog compete together, so Earl and I can both get the feel for shows and not let the nerves get the better of us!

We both absaloutely love our agility! It is also a great doggie sport because it releases energy from the dog and then they are tired and well excersised and - so are you!!!

Remembering puppyhood...

Here's a few pictures of Earl as a tiny little puppy! He has changed a lot since then, bless him!

And here's a few more recent pictures to show you show he's changed...

Welcome to our Blog!

Hi!
I am the lucky owner of Border Terrier, Earl, who is my very best friend ever! I have always wanted a dog since I was very very young, but never got one (until now)! I firstly wanted a dog and got two guinea-pigs, which I turned out to be allergic to anyway! Poor me. Then after that, I got two fish for my bedroom tank, which were nice, but still not a dog... Then I got horse riding lessons! They were good and I stuck with them, until one day I asked my dad: 'Please can I have a dog?' and he said: 'If you want a dog, you've got to save up for one', (as a joke)! So I did! And I saved and saved until my parents knew how much I deserved a dog, and we chose Earl who was the one who loved the cuddles with me every time I saw him, (we visited him every two weeks before the big day!) until we were allowed to take him home at eight weeks!! He is also very special because: my dad came home from work one day having met the hypo-allergenic breed, BorderTerrier, and he loved them! Because of my allergies to most pet dander, a hypo-allergenic breed like Earl is perfect. He has completely helped me get over my allergies and I am now hardly allergic!!!

Since then, we have been best buddies; friends for life. We have won four second place rosettes in past fun shows, and we are much into agility together. So, I will be posting on this blog, all about Earl and the things we do together! (Hence the Blog name 'Earl's World!)!

So, I hope you enjoy our Blog...
