Black And White Sunday - Standing Tall

Earl is wonderful at standing tall and looking gorgeous. He looks so proud and SOO regal in this photo!

For me, this is probably his most fetching stance. He just looks all perfect!!

Does your dog have a stance or posture that you find he looks at his very best?

And original photo

P.S. We haven't had many YOU! reporters lately! Send in a bit about you, your dog, and your blog and we'll feature you on our blog! Email borderterriersruleOK@gmail.com

All About Dogs

Hi, y'all!

Today, we have had a TOTALLY, AMAZINGLY, FANTASTICALLY PAWSOME day!! That's right, we went to our local All About Dogs show! And of course, Earl came too!! (I mean, what would the day we without him?? Its all about him!!)

It was extremely fun! I also entered him in all the fun dog show classes that fitted him as a dog and I as the handler, including:

~ Obedience
~ Quickest Sit
~ Waggiest Tail
~ Best Junior Handler
~ Best 6 legs
~ Awesome Eyes
~ Finest Fella
~ Dog Judge would most like to take home

Earl was truly well behaved and great in all classes! And we came away with these places….

~ 1st in Obedience
~ 1st in Fastest Sit
~ 5th in Best Junior Handler
~ Special Merit Award along with 5th place in Best Junior Handler
~ 2nd in Best 6 Legs

Yay!

From the purple rosette to the right, that is our winnings from the day, and from the purple rosette to the left, that's our purchases from the day! And...

And on Earl's neck, there is a red "I Woof You' bandanna we bought at the show today, and a little classy bow tie!!!

Some snaps from the day:

Starting off well with a car journey...

Getting pampered by my Nanny who we took along on the way

And below, are the truly unique liquorice assorts shaped dog treats! They taste like beef, and look like sweets!! Earl loves them - they're a great little snack,

Here we are having a great time in the Have-A-Go-Agility ring! All his runs were clear, and he did it beautifully!

Now our instructed Obedience round, in which we won!

What a well behaved little man!

And here is his adorable 'I Woof You' bandanna, in red!

There was also a Kidgility display, encouraging children in the audience to hold or be the agility equipment for this lovely little dog. Yes, he/she is pink!

And here, well here, is Earl's classy bow tie from Ditsy Pet! Hehe! He looks even more like a true gentleman wearing it!

And Earl loves his squeaky rubber chicken leg he won with hi 5th place!

I got it mum! Nom nom nom!

It was an amazing day! We had a great time! And we met some lovely dogs, owners, and breeds there too.

Plus there were a selection of great displays, engaging with the audience, or just wooing them into a sea of 'ahhhh…!'s!

Thank goodness for doggy days out!

The Pet Parade and Paws Up - Tongues and Tootsies

Dogs pant - and do you know how vital that is in their life?

Just like we sweat and breath heavily to cool down, dogs have to pant to cool themselves down. They also sweat between their toes - now did you know that before?!

In the foot, dogs sweat between their toes to help cool them down. They have glands there called merocrine glands

So why does my dog never leave wet paw prints on a hot day when it isn't wet outside, if he/seh sweats through his pads? The answer is, dogs don't sweat through their pads enough to leave marks. However, if you delve down into your dog's paw pads with your fingers (GENTLY), you may be able to feel moisture.

There are many things you can also do alongside these natural canine cooling processes to help your dog in the hot weather, including:

~ Buying your dog a cooling mat/cooling coat for him/her to use/wear
~ Making sure there is ALWAYS a fresh and filled supply of cold water your dog has access to (this should be there at all times, not just on hot days but every day).
~ Make sure there is a cool and shady area for your dog toe scape to when he gets to hot
~ Make cool treats for him to explore which will keep him cool, e.g. a treat filled ice block!
~ Feed him cold, healthy foods such as frozen peas and carrots.
~ Fill up a paddling pool for him to go in
~ Invest in getting him stripped/clipped for the summer months
~ Make sure you have your vet's number on hand if any problems arise
~ Don't be too strenuous on exercising your dog on hot days and never push him as this could lead to heat exhaustion and/or collapse
~ Lightly spread a small amount of cool water over his body
~ Switch a fan on around him

If you don't have some of these opportunities, e.g. no cooling mats/coats, no paddling pools, etc, you can always improvise! Like, wetting a towel and lying it down in the shade for him. If shade can't be found outside, open the windows in a room in the house, possibly with a fan, and place a wet towel etc here. Put his water in here. Close the curtains and any other light sources - the hot sun comes to mind.

Anyway, back to tongues and tootsies!

It is quite obvious that us humans can cool down more effectively, quicker. We have the whole surface area of our bodies to sweat away - but dogs can only open their mouths and sweat on the very feet they walk with. The rest of their body has no way of keeping cool naturally, without the assistance of humans. Panting and paw-pad-sweating does help the whole dog keep cool - but not as effectively as if the dog could sweat all over like us!

That is why it is SO important we assist our dogs in the heat especially. And NEVER leave your dog alone in the heat. If he/she overheats, you aren't there to get help or make help.

So now you are fully aware how and why dogs keep cool naturally! They may not have an as effective system as us humans, however they still manage a pretty effective natural way to keep cool as individuals, just like we do!

Thoughtless Thursday - Pet Blogger Influencer - Infographic (Pet Purchases) & what did we win again??

Hi guys! We have a little bit of a different post for you today… And its all about the latest Blogpaws Community, Pet Blogger Influencer Pet Blogging Infographic!! We're a tad late at this compared to other bloggers… but there hasn't yet been a new one, so today I am going to post a bit about it and the results it shows on pet bloggers.

So today, I will be answering some of the featured results.

Do I buy products after working with a brand? - Well, I don't particularly have a very  strong and consistent partnership with any brand, however I would do and at least take a strong interest and tell others about the brand too.
Am I the main pet purchaser in my home? - I would say that I buy the most things for Earl, but not necessarily the most amount of money. Its more quantity where my money and I are concerned!! I buy everything imaginable for my little Earl dog with most of my money, because Earl and dogs in general are my life.
How much on average do I spend on pet care, supplies, and food? - Well, my parents buy all the food for Earl etc, however I buy all his toys, his beds, his crates, his leads, membership at our club, etc. So I would say it really depends. I am not in change for buying the regular supplies in our household.
Is working with brands part of my blogging strategy? - In a way. Plenty of times I have posted about other brands, and I try to give the companies I work with publicity - obviously, because I work with them to do just that!
Do you donate to any rescue/rescue shelter causes? - I am very guilty and full of regrets to say no. That is simply because I do not work! I am not a working adult! So the money I do get is usually off family members. In the future, I would love to donate some of my wages to animal charities and rescues! I really want to help out more, but at the time being, it is almost impossible in my situation and life circumstances.
Where do I shop for my pet products? - That's a dead easy one! I shop mainly for Earl at Pets Corner and Pets At Home - they have great quality products on sale every visit. And Pets At Home even have their own in-shop groomers, and pet vets!!
How do I use my Pet Blogger voice? - My main goal as a pet blogger is to give you, my readers, great places to buy for your pets, and even buy pet-related things for yourself! See my Some Cool Stuff page on my blog to see some of the companies we love to work with and promote in a small way!
What type of retailers would I like to work with? - I have had more human but pet-related product companies come to me for help shouting about their businesses. I would LOVE to see more pet product companies come to me for help - I think soon it'll have to be me who comes forward to grant permission of a new possible online partnership! Sometimes you have to be the come to come forward, right?

I hope you learned a little bit more about what goes on behind the scenes at Earl's World!, when it comes to interacting and dealing with companies to promote, and where we like to shop.

We also do not promote companies which sell prong collars, and other dangerous and inappropriate pet products (obviously).

We love working with companies - and their PRODUCTS!

I especially like the treats they sell, says Earl!

In the future I would definitely be interested in more serious advertising from people, affiliate programs, earning some money from this blog, and getting products for product reviews from a company. However we're still small scale at the time being, and it'll take some more time and investigation, not to mention thought! So hold your breath, because we'll make sure everyone knows when the time comes!!

If you would like to be part of the widespread Blogpaws Pet Blogger network, full of friendly and fellow cyberpals, and then even stretch out further and apply to become a Pet Blogger Influencer Group Member, join the community HERE! By joining, you yourself can also become part of the Infographic participating and posting about crew, where you see first the new Infographics and ideas to help enlighten and improve your's and other's pet blogging life! You won't ever be sorry following!

Oh, and I almost forgot! Look what Earl and I won through the post again! AGAIN! I mean, MORE wins! Yeah.

2 bags of Vets Kitchen Dry food! Chicken and Brown rice flavoured!

As Earl isn't fed on this brand, we are donating one bag to our dog club's rescue centre, and keeping one to mix in with Earl's food a little and have as extra treats :-)

He loves it, of course!

Its healthy, and made by a professional vet, too!!

The bite size pieces are good for smaller dogs especially.

Mmmm! Tasty! More! MORE NOW!

Have a great Thursday, and see you tomorrow to celebrate for FRIDAY!! YEAH!! We can't wait!

We're participating in the Thoughtless Thursday Blog Hop hosted very kindly by Ruckus The Eskie and Love is Being Owned by a Husky! - even thought this post is everything BUT thoughtless!! - thanks again, guys, for a fantastic hop!

Monday Mischief - Dog breath on Lens

And I was hoping to get a nice head shot, Earl! Oh well. I guess it turned into a bit of a canine selfie, if I am totally honest with you guys!

You know, poor 'ickle camera-y went a bit blind on us for a second.

I then faded, and I wiped the rest off. Dog breath.

Next, guess what he did?

Lick it, spit on it and slobber on it, before whining and running off to play again. I stopped taking photos for a little then.

Those 3 properties are all what dog ownership is about! Oh, and the fur. Who can live without the fur for goodness sake?!

We're participating in the Monday Mischief Blog Hop hosted by Snoopy's DogblogMy Brown Newfies and Alfie's Blog - thanks again, guys!
