We then went on to take part in some fun little dog shows indoors. Ethel gained her first ever award, 2nd place in Waggiest Tail! Earl the got a 4th place in Best Trick! They both absolutely loved being in the ring!
Looks as though Earl is fine with the concept of snoozing the rest of the day away!!!! |
'Wow, my first rosette. I feel proud - but lets go to sleep now, OK?!' Ethel says! |
I am very proud of both of them. And look forward to this time next year when we can do it all over again, and try again at the ADoY class with Earl, enjoying more fun shows on offer, and maybe even having a go at the Obedience with Earl - we watched it today and I have no doubt Earl would be good at it himself if he tried! He's great at staying put, and really does as he is told in activities.
Believe it or not, this has been our first ever YKC event - and we plan to take part in more in the future! Its fun, and there are plenty of opportunities for dogs and owners, introduces the next generation of doggy people to dog sports and the love of dogs altogether. It has been a great experience for all of us, apart from being wet, including all the equipment, and the slippery ground!! It didn't manage to ruin it for us!!!
We're rather tired out again now, and both dogs are sound, curled up in balls, out like lights...
Well done you, Ethel and Earl :) Poppy and I love the YKC rosettes!!!!!!!! Where did you come in agility?
ReplyDeleteWe went yesterday and it was great (would of gone on all three days)!!!!!!!! It was our second YKC training day, we went last year. We were in the better of the two flyball groups (Poppy was so keen, barking mad) and the trainer said she was the great with the box and was really pleased with how she coped with the larger hurdles :) Then the obedience where was was best in the group (the trainer used her for a demo which she was really good in) and has a lovely "obedience heel" - she was trotting like a little pony lol so sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!! She was tired in the handling and couldn't keep her nose off the ground and didn't want me to open her mouth but otherwise I would've asked about entering the handling qualifier. I had no idea how she would cope with the agility - but she took the hurdles by storm!!!!! The tunnels she wasn't too interested in (has only done them straight out before). BUT the best things are that a) we are looking into agility classes now and b) we are allowed to enter some YKC Crufts qualifiers in the future!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks! I know right, BOL! We don't know, we haven't got an official qualifying place this year but we do believe with our clear round we could be well up there - we just have to wait for the rest of the results to be posted online (YKC website). In 2 years Ethel will be ready to enter the qualifier, and she has more speed on her than little Earl quite does, bless him! Earl likes to run round at his own, accurate, consistent pace, Ethel just goes flat out everywhere at her puppy agility sessions! She's also got a much earlier start.
DeleteSounds like you had great fun yesterday!!! I am SO glad!!! :-D Sounds like Poppy was absolutely amazing! Hopefully you can sure do some agility and some other sport qualifiers next year or the year after etc etc etc :-)
