Pinch Punch Post - January 2016 - NEW YEAR EDITION

HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2016 is finally upon us, and personally, I'm incredibly excited and pumped! Although I always find it difficult to see another Christmas come and go in the blink of an eye, the New Year always provides an uplifting time for optimism and motivation for what lies ahead. As people sit writing their New Year's resolutions, thoughtfully chewing on the end of a pencil as their minds whir, having dogs helps me prepare for the New Year like people without them could only ever dream of. I have many goals for 2016 that I wouldn't have if it wasn't for my dogs. From improving in our competitive Agility career to upping the activity and motivation in our everyday lives, there's plenty for us to aim for in the New Year. If you haven't already seen our New Year's Resolutions, the dogs included, you can do so HERE.

This month is a special month for everyone. Time for resolutions, planning, the opportunity of a clean slate and general motivation among people. If the previous year hasn't been a good one for some, the New Year provides a chance to learn from it, move on and have a brilliant year ahead. For us personally, January 2016 means more Agility competitions for both Earl and Ethel, where our Agility and competition-related resolutions can begin. I am also participating in a Cross Country Championship, where I can let go and enjoy running; although it may feel weird without a dog in hot pursuit and no Agility obstacles in sight!

December was also a brilliant month for us. Ethel participated in her first ever KC Agility competition, Dog Vegas, and her first Agility Nuts competition with available places. She did amazingly well, running with natural confidence and speed, and even winning a placing in a huge class, coming 4th and being beaten by medium collies! She has a bright Agility career ahead of her, and I couldn't be prouder! Earl also blew me away at Dog Vegas, winning Grade 5 Jumping, coming 2nd in Grade 5 Agility and running within the set course time for all classes, going clear in them all. He then also did well at Agility Nuts, standing 2nd in the overall league so far! He only needs one more Agility win and he's Grade 6!

Have a brilliant new month - and year - guys! Do you have any January/2016 plans?

  7. It sounds like you have a lot of fun planned. Freighter has a couple of dog shows toward the end of the month. We hope to get our for some training too now that hunting season is over. Hopefully it won't be too icy.
