The saying 'no hoof, no horse' can be said in the same way regarding dogs; no paw, no dog. Our dogs' paws play an incredibly important role in the daily lives of our dogs, and without them, our dogs wouldn't be, well... dogs! Dogs were originally bred as incredibly functional animals, many bred with specific working purposes. However, without their paws, dogs wouldn't be such amazing animals with some incredible abilities.
What would our dogs do without fully functional paws?
And... we nose that our peeps luffs our cute paws!!!!

Indeed! Paws are adorable!
DeleteLove that photo with the words. Paws on dogs are like wheels on cars. They are what you really need!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Good comparison! I agree!
DeleteBrilliant pic ☺ Good for digging, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you! My duo don't dig, but yes, I agree!
DeleteGood point Earl - and importnat to keep those paws healthy - especially in the snow and ice.
ReplyDeleteI agree. And when you do Agility with your dog!
DeleteSo true! Without paws I wouldn't be able to chase critters or dig holes.
ReplyDeleteAlthough my duo don't dig holes, chasing small animals would be missed!
DeleteHow would they ever paw the blankets to get comfy?!
ReplyDeletePrecisely guys!
DeleteMom massages our paws and puts creams on our pads

Pampering doggy paws helps keep them in good shape.
DeleteYou're making an excellent point - I found out about a great paw ointment (Tuf-Foot from Gun Dog Supply) to keep them from cracking and staying in tip-top shape. AND it doesn't contain any harmful chemicals, so it's harmless when licked after applying it.
ReplyDeleteThank you! It sounds good!
DeleteSuch a great reminder to take care of our paws!

I agree! Paws are SO imPAWtant!
DeleteI love Bentley's big paws. I hold his paw a lot.
ReplyDeleteI always hold my dogs little paws.
DeletePaws are important although Mr. N wishes his nails didn't have be trimmed so often!
ReplyDeleteMine agree! They despise nail trimming!
DeleteWe hold paws all the time!! They are very special paws!!
ReplyDeleteSo do we!
DeleteOurs doggies have webbed toes so their paws are special to help them swim. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is an amazing ability some breeds have.
DeleteAwesome post! Pinned and tweeted!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteVery true. I always keep a close eye on Chester and Gretel's paws when we hike. If they injure them, they can't walk out on their own. Luckily, they are small enough for us to carry. The "paw" thing goes for people too though. I hurt my foot on a big hike a couple of months ago. It was a "small" injury but, boy, did it cause a "big" problem. Take care of the feets! :)
ReplyDeleteGood question! A dog without paws would be bored! It's so nice to watch dogs use the skills that you mention, but we humans shouldn't forget to give their paws a bit of TLC every so often, so that they stay clean and healthy. I actually find it therapeutic to massage my dog's paws, and luckily she likes it too!
