Why Are Our Dogs' Paws So Important?

The saying 'no hoof, no horse' can be said in the same way regarding dogs; no paw, no dog. Our dogs' paws play an incredibly important role in the daily lives of our dogs, and without them, our dogs wouldn't be, well... dogs! Dogs were originally bred as incredibly functional animals, many bred with specific working purposes. However, without their paws, dogs wouldn't be such amazing animals with some incredible abilities.

What would our dogs do without fully functional paws?

We're joining our hosts SlimDoggyTo Dog With Love and My GBGV Life in the FitDog Friday Blog Hop. We send many thanks their way, and you can join in below.

  2. Love that photo with the words. Paws on dogs are like wheels on cars. They are what you really need!

  8. You're making an excellent point - I found out about a great paw ointment (Tuf-Foot from Gun Dog Supply) to keep them from cracking and staying in tip-top shape. AND it doesn't contain any harmful chemicals, so it's harmless when licked after applying it.

  15. Very true. I always keep a close eye on Chester and Gretel's paws when we hike. If they injure them, they can't walk out on their own. Luckily, they are small enough for us to carry. The "paw" thing goes for people too though. I hurt my foot on a big hike a couple of months ago. It was a "small" injury but, boy, did it cause a "big" problem. Take care of the feets! :)

  16. Good question! A dog without paws would be bored! It's so nice to watch dogs use the skills that you mention, but we humans shouldn't forget to give their paws a bit of TLC every so often, so that they stay clean and healthy. I actually find it therapeutic to massage my dog's paws, and luckily she likes it too!
