Super Vid Sunday With B&W! - Earl's Chair Tricks

Hey there y'all readers and viewers alike! Guess what? Its our busy Sundays time again! And we're starting off with a fun video of Earl and another of his talents. That's right, and then we have a black and white photo to go alongside… Yep, its Super Vid Sunday With B&W! @EW!

So first off, our video for Super Vid Sunday.

Let me explain. Its Earl doing his tricks on chairs. I'll explain why afterwards...

We are sorry the video is so short. However, we've had a long day today (trust me) on our feet (of course, its Sunday!!!!!!!!) and Earl was tired from 2 agility classes, altogether lasting 1 and 3 quarter hours, and Ethel an obedience. Not much time at all… but we'll try to include more footage next week and beyond, including some informational vids.

We enjoy videos so that you can see my dogs moving - yes, really. All you every see is still photos -

As you can plainly see here, Earl is very confident in jumping onto human objects as tricks and stunts. This may seem like a short and pointless exercise, or just something to do for a bit of fun, which it is also, BUT… Its also beneficial to the dog! Why? Confidence building around objects. A little like you use a wobble board, but except not wobbly. Rewarding for the asked behaviour is a must, too.

Earl has always thoroughly enjoyed using his paws. He just loves it! And he is a true, true master at doing tricks including their function - e.g. paw, high-five, 'on it'… And 'on it' is what we've demonstrated here for you today (or, well, Earl has at least, BOL!). I can put a small object in front of him and say 'on it' - he'll put a paw on it. If I repeat the command while his paw is on the object, he will either put the other paw on it and usually let out a single whine whilst wagging his tail rapidly, OR, he will tap the object with the same paw!! Clever and cute, huh?!

All aspects of training, and working together dog and handler, are beneficial for both of you.

Everybody like my chair pose?

Its easy for Earl… he's a natural poser, however, weirdly enough after saying that, he often enjoys the satisfaction he brings himself awkwardly looking AWAY from the lens when I try to  take a photo - unless there's a treat involved.

Whilst taking the above photo, both my parents commented on what a posy, slim little sausage fella he really is!! BOL on all levels.

We're delighted to be participating in the Black and White Sunday Blog Hop very kindly hosted by Dachshund Nola and Sugar The Golden Retriever - thanks again, guys!

  2. He does sure like that chair. We aren't allowed to jump on and off of things like that as it could be bad for our long backs and/or joints.

  7. I think Earl's chair pose is terrific! Cute video too! I always have trouble getting Isis to "Touch" objects with her paw instead of her nose, she's just very... nosey! We are working on it though.
