Can't Catch me - Faraway Photos (& Poll 15-16)

Its the Saturday for Sepia Snaps! Today, we are looking at Earl in a faraway fashion. Does your own dog(s) ever keep that distance from you when your playing together? In a sort of 'You can't catch me!' way? What do you then do? Do you laugh, just stand there, play a whole new game, or chase him? I often end up chasing Earl - toy in his mouth, ushering muffled little woofs as he hairs along the grassy land - wonderful to see and experience yourself.

Well? Y'gonna chase me or what the dawg?

BOL!! I win!

You behind me? Oh no, your there with the camera, silly.

Sorry mum, but the ball is mine - fair and triangle - I mean square, of course.

Of course, if your dog is possessive aggressive, then games such as chase (including an object, most likely the dog's toy (in which he knows is his possession)) tug-of-war, and a few other games that could involve fighting over an object is not a good idea. Otherwise, it is fun and burns energy off the both of y'all!

Remember not to play the same games with your dog all the time - mix it up a little and try some of our suggested ones above, however do it safely.

Happy Sepia Saturday! Remember - be sepia wherever you go today!!

About brands of dog food

Brands of dog food mean 'commercial' dog food, manufactured and put on the shelves of many shops for owners to choose and buy. These brands have a specific brand name, in which to be remembered by. But do we need commercial food with a brand name, a label of exact ingredients included, a feeding guideline, easy storage options and a quick method of scraping into the dog bowl to take your dog 30 seconds to eat? Read on to find out!

Do we need brands?

Not at all! We can feed home prepared foods like cooked or raw meals (sometimes called DIY dog diets) and still have healthy, happy, balanced dogs in tip top condition. And believe it or not, you can think what you want… but not all commercially branded dog foods are 100% truthful about what they put in their food! Either this, or they put the ingredients more likely to put buyers off feeding the food to their pet at the bottom, upside down, in ridiculously small print. Then they have their excuse to every complaining owner in which the food has done their dog no good - 'well we put it on the packet so you have no excuse not to have known'.

Is there one 'best food' or 'best way to feed'?

Not at all, either! Every different dog has a different food preference - not the same preference as we humans would possibly have over the taste of the food, but how the body reacts to the food. Does the food make the dog lethargic, sick, have diarrhoea or constipation, refuse to eat it, eat it all fast and still be hungry, be full after one bite, become bloated, have itchy and flaky skin, etc? If any of these is the case for your dog, read over the entire packet of the food you feed (or if you feed DIY, check you are adding the correct ingredients, which would mean a balanced diet, complete with all the essential nutrients which are vital for a dog's system). And defiantly check with your vet!

What should you do?

Speak with your vet, and they can advise you on a good way to feed your own dog as an individual animal. Talk with the breeder or centre in which your dog was located before you brought him/her home, and ask more about the food they were previously feeding your not pet. It could work well for you.

Our Poll 16 will be opening NOW!!! It will have 2 weeks as usual before it closes and info is given on the subject and the winning vote when necessary.

Poll 16 is on the subject of doggy habits.

The question posed is: 'What habits does your dog(s) have?'

For this poll, you can vote multiple answers. Please for those who choose 'Other?' on a poll, could you possible comment what your other is on the info post like this one so others can feed off your information and learn more?

Let's get voting! Thanks.

REMEMBER, POLLS ARE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE BLOG PAGE!

  1. Hi Y'all!

Oh I always get a treat when I return the bumper, toy, ball or whatever, to hand. Why would I want to run away from that!

    1. Ah, Earl's treat is the ball thrown again when he retrieves it - in fetch sessions.

  7. That looks like a really fun game! I could not play that since my job is to be a heeler and I stay very close to my humans... except when I have to catch the frisbee. ;) Happy Sepia Saturday! from FireBonnet and her 2catsandacattledog (18)
