How To Make a Doggy Birthday Cake

As you all should be aware of if you are a regular to our blog, it was Earl's 4th birthday last Wednesday! And to make it extra special, I made him a totally PAWsome, nommy birthday cake, especially for doggies! It really got his tail wagging! This Tasty Tuesday, I will demonstrate how to make on for your own dog(s) via many photos and words.
What do you think? - Finished result!

Ingredients you will need (to make 1 serving):

~ 1 egg
~ 1/4 cup peanut butter
~ 1/4 cup cooking oil
~ 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (we did not include this however)
~ 1/3 cup honey (optional)
~ 1 cup shredded carrots
~ 1 cup whole wheat or white flour
~ 1 teaspoon baking soda

Equipment you will need:

~ A far-sized bowl for mixing
~ Around a 6 inch cake tin
~ Yourself!

Method for baking:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 6 inch cake tin…

Preheat...

Grease...

2. Combine the egg, peanut butter, oil (possibly vanilla), and honey (optional) into a large bowl and blend or mix by hand well...

Egg...

Peanut butter...

Oil…

Honey...

Mix well!

3. Now grate a carrot, place it in 1 cup, and add it to the mixture, stirring it in well…

Grate it...

Put the grated carrot in 1 cup...

Add to the mixture

Stir well!

4. Add the 1 cup flour and 1 teaspoon baking soda to the mixture…

Flour...

Baking soda...
Mix well, again!

5. Once stirred in well, spoon your cake mixture into the cake tin. once finished, the cake mixture should look like the following:

Flattern out...

Before placing in the oven, the mixture should look like this.

6. Put cake in the preheated oven and bake it for 40 minutes…

7. Now take the cooked cake out and let it cool on the side for 10 minutes. Check temperature afterwards with your finger to make sure it is cool enough to serve up to your 4-legged friends!

Cool yet?

8. Extremely gently, remove cake from the tin and place it on a plate.

9. Now for the exciting part! Lather peanut butter on the corners of the cake…

10. Choose a fair-sized dog treat (we chose Arden Grange Mini Crunchy Bites) and stick these on each spot of peanut butter…

It should now look like this!

11. If you wish, add some candles to light! (See 1st photo at the top of the post to see how our's looked!)…

It should look like this!

12. Now you are finally ready to serve up to your patient (or not so!) doggy birthday partiers! Cut up accordingly if you want to make it last! However first, remove the candles once celebrated using them.

"Happy Birthday, to You!"

Remove the candles to cut up...

Place in a dog bowl, or just give it to your dog!

You have one happy birthday boy/girl!

We hope your dog(s) enjoy(s) this cake as much as Earl did!

We spilt 3 steps up so we could use the photos we took whilst making them - its actually a really simple recipe!
