Thursday Barks And Bytes - Our Pigeon 'Scarecrow (?)'

***WARNING: Pigeon Faeces Pics***

Recently, our garden has been a real Pigeon party place. Meaning more dollops of that horrible Pigeon poop. Meaning more upset doggy stomachs for Earl. The truth is, he LOVES rolling in, and most of all eating, Pigeon poop!

So we've created a very plain but so far effective 'scarecrow' to keep the Pigeons out.

Just a polystyrene flag type thing!

Why? These collages will give you a little bit more info on exactly WHY…

but unfortunately

In fact, while we were taking these shots in the garden, Earl took a sneaky bite and swallowed that exact piece of poop himself. Bearing in mind the concept of GETTING RID of this hazard, I was practically boiling over. I didn't show it, of course. If there aren't any pigeons to make the poop in the first place, this wouldn't happen.

Now obviously it isn't really the dog's fault - most dogs are inclined to eat and roll in poo and the like, instinctively. And the birds need to poo. So its nobody's fault, really… you just need to help prevent the occurrence if its causing problems.

But if its there, Earl will make it his duty to rid of it in the most filthy possible way. Unfortunately.

So now Earl helps to stand guard against these unwelcome garden visitors...

But muuum - I love chasing pigeons!

Yes, I know you do Earl.

Can you spot the unwelcome garden visitor Earl is happily chasing here?!

Bird faeces can give dogs bad stomachs and cause discomfort to that area. It is a filthy habit to get into, and should be prevented as much as possible by the owner.

So we'll see how this works and give you a pupdate in a couple of weeks time!

Lets keep out the

We're participating in the Thursday Barks And Bytes Blog Hop hosted kindly by 2 Brown Dawgs and Heart Like A Dog - thanks again, guys!

My Human doesn't have to worry. The geese leave lots of presents and I just ignore it...course if I even look at it my Human is quick with the "leave it" or a sharp "aht!".

    Y'all come by now,

  4. Oh dear! My parents had this problem with Canada Geese--they got a fake coyote because they were told it would scare the geese away and those things just came right up to it! Luckily, none of the dogs cared about the poop, but it did make the backyard really unpleasant to be in. Hope you have better luck with the flags!

  6. We have a whole family of pigeons that use to frequent our garden but someone now has two cats and that keeps them away which is great as they poop on everything. Good luck and Earl keep up the yard patrol. Have a fabulous Friday.
