M is for Mending

Being an agility dog, dogs who participate in the sport are at risk of injuries. Pulling legs, slipping over, and more. Therefore it's vitally important that you, as the responsible owner, understand that when injuries occur, rest and time for mending is needed. Because without this, your agility dog could be 'broken' for a longer period of time.

If you do not take time away for mending when your dog is injured, the injury could worsen. You will then be forced to take even more time away from agility. I am sure you would then begin to show withdrawal symptoms! So make the mending time as short as possible by taking time off as soon as the injury occurs, and you can get straight back to it with a mended dog. Don't forget to take your dog to the vet if he or she becomes injured. He may need some form of treatment, and your vet could possibly tell you what is the problem, if apparent.

Oh, and before we go, I would just like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to our good pals, Jenna and the Sibes, at Love is Being Owned by a Husky! for this beautiful card, saying a happy 2nd Blogiversary to us from the 13th April! We LOVE it so much, guys!

  1. Sometimes it's hard to keep an active dog quiet and resting, but you're right, it's really important to protect them against a more serious injury. Earl looks so sweet all tucked in! :)

  2. Great reminder of how important it is to allow your dog's body to heal. If they don't rest up soon after injury the injury could get worse.

  5. Very good advice since dogs tend to be willing to "work through the pain", and we definitely don't want that!
